Home Made Baby Oil

Taken from the book – Beauty oils and Butters (elaine Stavert)

Massage this soothing oil into your little ones’ skin to help them relax and drift off to sleep.  This is a great natural alternative to products containing petrochemicals, giving your baby a healthier start to life.

What you will need

300 ml sweet almond oil or olive oil

10 drops of lavender essential oil

10 drops of geranium essential oil

5 drops of chamomile essential oil

The above oils can be substituted with mandarin

Quantity

This recipe makes 300ml of baby oil

Instructions

Combine all the ingredients and mix through, then pour into a bottle.  To use pour a little oil into your palms, then massage into your baby’s skin.  Or draw a warm bath and 1 tablespoon (15ml) of the oil into the water.  Mix well to ensure that the oil has evenly dispersed.

Note

This recipe can be used on babies from 2 weeks old and upwards.  Do not exceed the amounts of essential oils stated.  The oil will make the bath slippy so make sure you keep a firm hold of baby.  Always patch test before using.
